Introduction
The Landscape Biodiversity Group at the University of Tartu researches biodiversity dynamics and ecosystem-level processes in different spatial and temporal scales.
A particular interest of the workgroup lies in quantifying the impact of the main drivers of degradation, notably land-use change, climate change and other anthropogenic factors, on biodiversity, ecosystem functions and processes. Building on scientific evidence, the workgroup is also actively working towards identifying and applying the most effective approaches for nature conservation and for restoring degraded habitats.
The workgroup also participates in multiple habitat restoration projects, being responsible for developing and carrying out biodiversity/ecosystem function/services monitoring schemes and providing scientific evidence for well-informed restoration planning.
