FutureScapes took part in Maamess for the first time this year.

MaamessFutureScapes booth at Maamess.

Many visitors arriving at our booth asked: “So what is it that you sell?”. Perhaps people enjoyed talking with us precisely because we were not trying to sell them anything. Instead, we had conversations about the current state of land use in Estonia and how, together, we can make it more sustainable and more in harmony with nature.

It was truly encouraging to see how many people are interested in sustainable land use and enthusiastically took part in answering our spinning wheel questions. These questions led to meaningful discussions about biodiversity, pests, invasive species, agricultural productivity and landscape diversity.

We also exchanged contacts with several landowners who were interested in having research carried out on their land.

Maamess confirmed for us that there is both interest in and a need for science-based, nature-conscious land use solutions, including among landowners.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk, ask questions and think along with us.
